The San Remo Song Festival is the most famous musical competition in Italy. It’s organized annually in San
Remo (Liguria). The festival has been held every year between the end of February and the beginning of
March at the Ariston Theater since 1977. But originally it was held at the Casino of San Remo (1951-1976).
It has become one of the main media events on Italian television, producing debates and controversies in
all its editions.
Over the years it has often changed its formula, but basically it is a competition in which performers of
original songs, composed by Italian authors, receive votes from three juries: the Press Room, TV and Web,
the public with televoting and the Radio Jury.
This year the Sanremo Festival concluded with the revelation of the winner: Angelina Mango. She is the
daughter of the late, very famous singer Mango.
